WELCOME NOTE FROM JAMES MILLER, VP INTERNATIONAL, VNU GLOBAL MEDIA, SAN FRANCISCO

Since being the first technology media owner to launch Webseminars in Europe back in May 2004, VNU Business Media Europe, the parent of VNU Global Media, has taken the lead in delivering high quality, editorially driven interactive events.

It was clear from reviewing the data from 45 events with nearly 10,000 attendees that the European technology and business decision makers have embraced the Webinar format. Whether a live event with Q&A or a convenient, archived on demand viewing, tech buyers and tech marketers now have another platform with which to engage and educate each other. The polling questions and the ability to follow up gives both parties the opportunity of being able to continue a two-way dialogue that is a critical part of the buying process.

In this eNewsletter, you will find our Best Practices Guide to European Webseminars, as well as special offers, partner content, news, events and book reviews.

In addition, we are confident, with the pending sale of VNU Business Media Europe to 3i (see Company News section) that VNU will continue to invest in rich media and interactive platforms for both readers and marketers.

As always, we welcome your feedback on any of these topics.

Best regards,
James

RICH & STREAMING MEDIA: BUILDING B2B COMMUNITIES

First, there were static Web sites. Next, Web sites added Flash media. Then, audio became a better way to communicate with you audience. Now, as users become increasingly familiar with combined audio-visual content delivered through their PCs, the opportunities for selling and problem-solving via the Web have expanded exponentially for business people.

Today, there has been a rapid increase in the use of rich and streaming media to do everything from generating leads and facilitating knowledge transfer, to delivering e-learning and to providing stakeholder communications.

There are three clear advantages for advertisers when using rich and streaming media content like Webinars and video emails:

1) It can differentiate: Rich, streaming media is the difference in sharing people’s experience, insights and passions.

2) It’s live: Delivering live experiences, rather that static content, enable prospects to get real-time answers to their questions and accelerate the sale.

3) It’s measurable: Streaming media, especially live events like interactive online video or audio events, let you track who is consuming your media –– and most importantly –– for how long they’re consuming it.
